A little hidden lies the castle on the eastern end of Gartow, behind the church. Maybe you should call it a manor house because of its size, but the building ensemble is wonderfully picturesque and worth a visit, especially in good weather.

Gartow Castle is privately owned by the von Bernstorff family of counts (also known for the resistance against the nuclear waste dump in Gorleben). The castle itself is not open to the public. There is a farm shop in front of the castle where you can buy various foods (including game).
