This is one of over 300 knight's stones of the Palatinate Forest Association.
Its inscription "Hohlog" is said to mean "Hohe Loog", because this knight's stone points to an earlier border line (= LOOG) on this HIGH mountain ridge.
“This term can be found twice more in the Palatinate Forest. On the one hand for a mountain north of Neidenfels and on the other hand for another mountain west of Neustadt an der Weinstraße-Hambach, after which a forest hut is named.

The groomed by the Palatine Forest Association PWV Ritterstein bears the serial number 150 and should actually be called High Loog. The Ritterstein refers to a high borderline on the ridge. The Hohe Loog is a second time at Neustadt-Hambach.
