On the second day, we first rode along the Ilm Mühlenradweg. In Kleinhettstedt, we visited the ostrich farm and the historic mustard mill.
Over a few hills, we then went to Großkochberg Castle, where, just like the old Goethe, we indulged in coffee and cake in the castle garden. The old swimming lake

This was a great tour with @Sylvia & Coach, @Andrea🇺🇦🙏✌🇺🇦 and @Armin 😊 first through the Schwarzatal, always along the river up to the mountain railway (which is unfortunately being renovated and will not be running until the end of 2026) and then up to Großbreitenbach⛰️
Via the new Rennsteig Ilm

Day 1 of a two-parter on the northern edge of the Thuringian Forest
Exceptionally minimalist this time (without large luggage and without a laptop 😱). But in the best company with @UdoS 🌏🕊 and @Andrea🇺🇦🙏✌🇺🇦 and lots of good cheer 😊.
The first stage, brilliantly planned by Udo, led us from Rudolstadt

If Sylvia shows interest in a tour, you have to (take advantage of it) 😉
After the ascent to Brennersgrün, which was a bit strenuous in the second half, her joy over the countless lupines along the Rennsteig was all the greater. And otherwise, it was an extremely varied tour that, in addition to the

To round off the Pentecost weekend, there was a nice tour with Sylvia in the origin area of the Main: Roter Main, Weißer Main, Schorgast and Steinach. The highlight of the tour for me was clearly the panoramic route from Wirsberg to Triebenreuth and the subsequent drive through the Steinach valley (visited

Another anecdote for tinkerers:
My white steed was also very happy, as it finally got to be used again today. My last tour with it about 6 weeks ago ended a bit prematurely due to extreme squeaking and creaking noises from the crank area. I was absolutely convinced it was the bottom bracket, but it was

To make the most of the departure day, we also visited the Miraflores Locks and the visitor center at the Panama Canal. In addition to the lock operations, the IMAX film beautifully presented the challenges in the conception of the Panama Canal and the canal's importance for the country.

Finally, we rented bikes again for a farewell tour through Panama City. The bikes from Burke Bikes proved to be much more suitable than the junk we had used for our first city tour.
A small adventure for the nerves was the loop to the north, which I had borrowed from a found RR tour. Away from the waterfront

The tour through the rescue station offered an absolutely unique experience, seeing the sloths native to Panama up close and "in action". Other interesting inhabitants at the Panama Nature Center included porcupines, anteaters, a crocodile, and a boa.

A walk through the Metropolitan Natural Park, a nature reserve in the middle of Panama City. Despite the steady stream of visitors, a few wild inhabitants showed themselves: including a sloth, a coati, and a royal woodpecker.

After a short visit on our first bike tour through Panama City, we dedicated another and very rewarding visit to Cerro Ancón. From Panama's highest hill, you not only get a great view of the city, but the nature reserve is also home to exotic animals. High in the trees, we first spotted 2 sloths before

Boat trip from Gamboa to Gatun Lake, the reservoir through which the Panama Canal runs
Our boat guide proved to be very skilled at attracting wild monkeys on the small islands. As an extra, we also got to see a sloth hidden in the treetops and a crocodile.
