Saturday morning in Upper Franconia and it snows and snows. ❄️ After a leisurely snow shovel, we went on a short hike through the snow-covered Kainachtal.

Today gray again, the temperatures are really getting a bit wintry and 1 ° is 1 ° ❄️ But it was dry and I felt like cycling.Via the Aufseßal I reached the ramp up to Rauhenberg, which strangely shows a sign with a 15% gradient at the top and bottom. 🤷🏼Via Breitenlesau and Hubenberg I reached my tour destination, the 13 m high stone bag, the landmark of the town of Waischenfeld, right next to Waischenfeld Castle. After I got the message that dear friends had announced that they were passing through, I rushed back home through the Wiesent valley and took a hot shower.

After five days of permanent gray finally crisp, sunny winter weather with 2.5 ° and a bad weather front from Thuringia in the suit. Nobody needs it, so we drove to the hiking car park near Klosterlangheim and laced our hiking boots.Past the Alten Staffelberg and the Spitzberg, we hiked directly to the plateau of the Staffelberg. There we visited the Querkelshöhle. On the plateau you come across a wooden railing. The legendary Querkel Cave is located three meters below. Little dwarfs, the Querkel, are said to have lived in this cave. The Querkel did a lot of good for the population in the Main Valley. But one day, according to legend, the Staffelberg Querkel ran away, offended by the greedy and ungrateful nature of a farmer's wife. A fountain in front of the entrance to the Obermain-Therme in Bad Staffelstein is also reminiscent of the Querkel. Then we hiked back to the car, past bizarre finds.Komoot didn't do the cave visit so well, we have a huge outlier in terms of altitude, although the route we went today is the most comfortable on the Staffelberg. 🤷🏼

Visiting friends in the Westerwald. In addition to extensive barbecue training, a short hike was also made. Unfortunately the weather at the weekend was typical November gray. What the heck, you always have to make the best of the situation.Thank you very much for your hospitality. 🥰

Pure sun, depending on the shade 5-7 ° and looking forward to a wonderful meal spurred me on to a hard and fast tour to the Nuremberg Tower. So off on the B22 and through Wiesenttal to Würgauer Berg, then past the substation to Kreuzstein and the Nuremberg Tower. Then FSA (free after mountain grouch) full pot home.38 km on the B22, the traffic today is merciless in Upper Franconia (1 bus, 2 motorcycles, 3 cars, 1 tractor, 1 truck, 1 cyclist). This traffic density makes up for the fact that there are no bike paths there.

Today we followed a Komoot suggestion. Right at the beginning, Komoot led us on a somewhat stupid path that ends in a cattle paddock. The much better and more comfortable way is directly at the parking lot, see picture 1.From the end of Veitlahm near Mainleus we hiked up to the Patersberg tower. From there we had a wonderful view over the Main Valley, over Kulmbach to the Schneeberg and Ochsenkopf in the Fichtel Mountains, over the Albtrauf from the Görauer Anger to the Kordigast, even the Staffelberg was recognizable in the haze. Then we hiked to the Veitlahm waterfall. At the moment the approx. 5m high waterfall does not have a lot of water due to the dryness, but it is still an impressive rock formation in the eroded Rhätsandstein. Then we hiked back to Veitlahm via meadow paths. Overall, an easy, leisurely hike with no particular difficulties.

What a weather, plenty of sun, cozy 7 ° warmth, air pressure 1,028 hPa and 17 km visibility. It couldn't be better. 🤩 Get on your bike.Via Schönfeld we went into the Lochautal to the Col der Kleetzhöfe, then via Thurnau into the beautiful Rotmaintal. A short break at the Partenfeld bus stop, where the latest daily newspaper is almost always available. Addressed to the bus stop. 😉Then via 'the quiet alternative near Langenstadt' - partly newly asphalted - towards the east wind to Bayreuth, there along the Mistelbach and back to Haus full Kanne, partly via the former BT Hollfeld railway line.I really had enough strength and mood today, only the battery of the cell phone was weakening quite a bit from BT, but it was just enough for home. It was great fun again today. The only strange thing was that I only met 5 cyclists on the whole tour. With the great weather ... 🤷🏼

Cloudy but dry autumn weather, refreshing 4 ° warmth but desire to cycle.Through the Kainach and Schwalbachtal valleys we went north to the former border between Prussia and Bavaria near Seubersdorf in 1806-1866.The border ran from the Napoleonic Reorganization in 1806 to the so-called German-German War or Prussian-Austrian War of 1866 between Prussia and its allies on the one hand and the German Confederation on the other, in which Austria and the Kingdom of Bavaria were among others involved. The real cause of the German War was the rivalry between Austria and Prussia in the German Confederation.Via Modschiedel and Feulersdorf - there the sun came out briefly and it warmed up to 5 ° in late summer - we went home in the direction of our home stove.

In great sunny weather with 17.5 ° we made an autumnal October hike to the Friesener Warte and to the Friesen glider airfield. The hike was adorned with beautiful autumn colors.A pleasant half-hour break on a sunny bench rounded off the short hike. Despite the fantastic weather, there were pleasantly few visitors today.

Use the dry autumn weather again and cycle around a little in the landscape. No idea where to go, so just go to the Aufseßal. The rest will follow.First stop today at the funny wooden dolls in Oberaufseß. Then we went on through the Aufseßal to the plateau near Wüstenstein. Via Siegritz and Stücht I reached the path through the forest near Greifenstein Castle and drove via Brunn to the highest point of the tour, to Hohenpölz.After a short rest at the Hohenpölz chapel, I drove via Huppendorf to the Aufseß spring in Königsfeld and then back along the Aufseß to Drosendorf.Unfortunately a little bit of sun today, but completely empty streets, a day made for just dawdling on your bike.
