The children's book of the same name by Walther Petri, published in 1978, tells the story, in colorful illustrations, of a friendship between engine driver Gleistreu and the steam locomotive "Johanna," who is to be replaced by a new, more powerful engine. Johanna, who has always reliably and without complaint done her job, doesn't yet feel like she's "old news."
