Renovating historic buildings is often a challenge. The planners at Ruser and Partners and Helleckes Landscape Architecture succeeded in doing so with the display greenhouses at the Karlsruhe Botanical Garden, following original plans and using both traditional and modern materials. The Karlsruhe Botanical Garden is located in Karlsruhe on the edge of the palace gardens west of the Karlsruhe Palace. The historic buildings of the orangery, greenhouses, winter garden and art gallery as well as the modern building of the Federal Constitutional Court shield it from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Today, the botanical garden is considered the green oasis in the middle of the city of Karlsruhe. It is open to visitors. It is one of the state's own monuments and is looked after by the State Palaces and Gardens of Baden-Württemberg. You can find out more about the history of the botanical garden in an exhibition in the archway building (source: Wikipedia).
