The portrait figure of Franz Joseph I was created by Josef Václav Pekárek (1873-1930). The sculptor used an official photograph of the emperor with his head slightly bowed, taken in 1908 on the 60th anniversary of his rule. Instead of a uniform, he is dressed in the regalia of a knight of the Order of the Golden Fleece, complemented by the decoration of the order on a golden chain. The monument was unveiled on September 25, 2004 in the presence of Otto von Habsburg, the monarch's grandson.

Hiking
the statue was designed in 1887 by the Eger sculptor Karl Wilfert and stood on the market square in the town of Eger. The statue of the Emperor became an occasion for nationalist clashes and lost an arm; In 1925 it was removed in Eger and restored in 2003 and placed in the park of Franzensbad. In the background the neo-classical Trinkhalle of the Glauberbrunnen.
