The Ungertal Hut is right at a crossroads. According to the notice on the door, further information about this hut (e.g. where to stay overnight) is available from the Kaiserslautern Forestry Office, Tel. (0631) 3 41 98-0.

In front of the Ungertal hut there is a seating area for resting - with a direct view of one of the over 300 knight's stones of the Palatinate Forest Association.

"The Ritterstein marks the spot where a pitch hut with a resin oven once stood. Here pitch was extracted from the resin of the pine trees. Directly opposite the Ritterstein is the Ungerhäuschen. This small solid house with a window opening was built in 1903 as temporary accommodation for the tree resin harvest."
