Skojevska 140 C – my second home in Tuzla, after the first one in Miladije. In this then marginal part of Tuzla, between Brčanska Malta and the then village of Solina, I lived from 1969 to 1977. There I grew up, formed, matured and became what I am to this day (a well-preserved Tito youth, hahaha!). Living in Skojevska, I finished the eight-year school and then the Mining Technical School (both on the other side of Tuzla, in Kreka); I got a job in one of Tito's mines Kreka-Banovici and gained my first years of work experience among the flagships of the working class – Kreka's miners. In November 1974, I left that home to serve my military service in the Yugoslav People's Army, only to wait almost a year and a half to meet my city again. It was in that building that I took the first love letters addressed to me out of the mailbox. From there I went to my first dances and 'korza', scout meetings and marches, to my first federal youth work action in Banja Luka in 1971, and in later years to 'Morava' and 'Sava'. And from there, as a 22-year-old, I left my city forever, first to study in Sarajevo, and then further and further along new and sometimes unpredictable paths in life. The three buildings opposite the sports fields of the former barracks (now the campus of the University of Tuzla) have remained the same; the surroundings have changed considerably. On the last building, the name of the former grocery store run by my neighbor Suljo is still written: '8. mart' (for those who don't know: Women's Day!). Next to the entrance to my old building, I read the names of several old tenants: Olga, Zejneba, Muhamed, Mujo... I cherish fond memories of that time and all my friends from my youth. May those who are still alive live long and in good health!
