Tvrtko I (* 1338; † 10 March 1391), since his coronation in 1377 Stjepan Tvrtko I (or Stefan/Stepan in the national languages), from the House of Kotromanić, was the Ban of Bosnia from 1354 to 1377 and the first king of the medieval Bosnian state from 1377 to 1391.

During Tvrtko's reign, political stability was achieved, as well as significant cultural and spiritual advancement, making him the most powerful ruler in the history of medieval Bosnia. This was a period of urban, trade, and mining development, and the first gold coins were minted in Bosnia. The heraldic symbol of the lily also appeared here, which would become the emblem of Bosnian bans and kings.

The monument to King Tvrtko I Kotromanić, the work of a young academic sculptor from Sarajevo, Adis Lukač, was erected in September 2012 in the Tuzla City Park. A stone obelisk was also erected at that time, on which the text of the Charter of the Kulin Ban was inscribed.
