The "Round Tower", the symbol of the town of Zell (Mosel), was the top tower of the former town fortifications. After the major fire in 1848, this was torn down with the exception of a few remains and the stones were used to build houses. The "round tower" and the "square tower" were preserved and served as emergency housing. The tower is 14 meters high and six meters in diameter. As old pictures show, he originally wore a tall pointed helmet surrounded by four watchtowers. Around 1690 the "round tower" was given a curved hood that matches the helmet of St. Peter's Church.
