The Küchensee, also called Großer Küchensee, is a lake in the Duchy of Lauenburg district in the German state of Schleswig-Holstein in Ratzeburg.
The lake is about 180 hectares in size and up to 14.7 m deep. Together with the Ratzeburger See and the Kleiner Küchensee, it encloses the island town of Ratzeburg.
The division into the large and small kitchen lake came about when what is still known today as the small railway embankment between the lake shore and the cathedral island was raised between 1906 and 1908 in order to extend the Ratzeburg small railway to the south-east.On March 31, 1934, the Kleinbahn AG was dissolved and the tracks were then dismantled. The dam can now be used by cyclists and pedestrians. The Ratzeburger Rowing Club operates a modern regatta course on the Küchensee, on which a large rowing regatta is held every year.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/K%C3%BCchensee_(Ratzeburg)

From the terrace and the associated jetty of the Hotel Der Seehof you have a magnificent view of the Küchensee to the south. When the weather is nice, you can really enjoy a drink here.
