Thanks to a donation from Sparkasse Krefeld, the Biological Station Krickenbecker Seen could start the "Project for the optimization of the unique amphibian and reptile population in the southwestern border forest of the district of Viersen" in 2018. It includes measures for the reptiles Adder, Snake Snake and Sand Lizard. But also the reintroduction of the garlic toad (rarest amphibian in NRW) is an important part.
