Hiking fans have this year the Galgenvenn in the Schwalm-Nette Nature Park was voted the second most beautiful hiking trail in Germany in the category day trips. First place went to the Wassersteig in Bad Urbach on Swabian Switzerland. Third place went to Rheingold in Boppard.

The eventful premium trail "Galgenvenn" leads the hiker through impressive nature - sometimes on German, sometimes on Dutch side. Who starts at the inn Galgenvenn in a southerly direction, first comes through the enchanted border forest. The idyllic Sonsbeck-Venn and the beautiful Langen-Venn together form the Heidemoore nature reserve.
Continue through a high-trunk forest to the picturesque gravel pit, which lies in the midst of a renatured landscape. Sky blue lakes invite you to linger. Towards the north, the hikers come on narrow paths to the Maas slope to the nature reserve "gorge" with a beautiful view of the valley. From there you can reach the Dutch nature reserve Holtmühle and the open heath landscape "Hühnerkamp". The hikers reach the starting point through an oak alley and along redwoods, streams and the Flachskuhlen
