Lunar Loch is the last alpine loch on the Beinn Eighe Mountain Trail in the Beinn Eighe National Nature Reserve. It lies at an altitude of approximately 500 meters in an open quartzite landscape and is characterized by its round shape and clear water. The loch is located just past the Conservation Cairn and marks the start of the descent towards Loch Maree. Its location in the rugged, lunar-like terrain has earned it the name "Lunar Loch," and it forms a visual highlight of the trail. From here, panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and valleys open up, making it a memorable landmark for hikers.
