Considered by many to be Scotland's most beautiful, Loch Maree separates Torridon from 'the Great Wilderness' of the Fisherfield Forest. The view of Slioch across its waters is a quintessential Highland scene that has appeared on many calendar photos down the years.
The loch's northwestern end is home to the Loch Maree Islands National Nature Reserve, an astonishing place to explore. Special mention goes to the island of Eilean Sùbhainn, which boasts its own little lochan with its own islands. Islands within an island in the heart of the Northwest Highlands, it doesn't get much more spectacular than that.
