Ibis Styles Hotel recently took over the former Yup Hotel on the Kleine Ring in Hasselt.
The Hasselt explorer Adrien de Gerlache is put in the spotlight when the new hotel is furnished. De Gerlache and the crew of his ship 'Belgica' were the first people ever to spend the winter in Antarctica in 1898. The hotel will feature various photos of the expedition, such as those of Adrien de Gerlache himself, but also of the sailors and scientists on board.
