    Hiking

It is not really a bridge but just a longer boardwalk than the shorter one you encounter earlier on the walk. There are several small bridges over the streams. This boardwalk can sometimes be quite handy because the nature reserve can sometimes be very wet. But at other times it is bone dry. Be sure to look at the plants in the spring next to the path.

Perhaps most importantly: right next to the path is a very sturdy picnic bench.

This boardwalk helps you avoid mud and puddles. And it's still pleasant to walk on.

    Hiking

The open to semi-open landscape with species-rich grasslands alternates with deciduous forest and shrubs. The unique and extremely rare blue grasslands in the area make grass fans salivate. They owe their name to the bluish color due to the large presence of plant species such as blue knot, blue sedge and tooth grass.

Is the Vlonderpad Nietelbroeken trail dog-friendly?

Yes, the Vlonderpad Nietelbroeken trail is generally dog-friendly. Many visitors enjoy walking their dogs here. To ensure a pleasant experience for all nature enthusiasts and to protect the local wildlife, it's always best to keep dogs on a leash and clean up after them.

What is the best time of year to see the unique flora, such as the blue grasslands and wildflowers?

While the reserve is beautiful year-round, spring is particularly vibrant for observing the unique flora. In spring, you can admire wildflowers such as forest anemones, slender primroses, and wood violets. May is an excellent time to see spotted orchids and cuckooflowers blooming in the meadows.
