The so-called Faust tower on the southeast corner of the monastery refers to Doctor Faustus, the miracle healer and alchemist. He is said to have lived here in 1516 and, according to legend, made gold for Abbot Johann Entenfuß. Entenfuß, spiritual head of the Maulbronn monks between 1512 and 1518, was in any case a "college" of Doctor Faustus according to the abbot list. Despite his gold business with the alchemist, the lavish abbot was not lucky - he was finally deposed for "bad housekeeping".

Nearby you can still marvel at one of the Staufer steles. There are also relatively quiet seats here.

The beautifully restored Faust tower on the southeast corner of the monastery wall is reminiscent of Dr. Faustus, the miracle healer and alchemist who was supposed to produce gold here.
