In 1720-1721, Abbot Jacques Hache had a palace built in the neoclassical style. It included the abbot's apartments, the quarters of distinguished guests, the quarters of the purser (responsible for keeping the accounts), a reception room, a library, as well as a room where the bodies of the monks were housed before their burial. The construction of this luxurious palace was accompanied by the creation of a large courtyard and a series of terraced gardens with fountains and flower beds.
