I started in the fog – at least now I know what gear is best – and then the sun came out in Gebenstorf. Hooray!
So I decided that on the way home I wouldn't follow the usual routes, but try something new. Why not go from Müllingen to Birrfeld and on towards Mägenwil? I've only ever hiked that route before

Since I hadn't cycled for more than a few minutes in such low temperatures for a very long time, sorting through and optimizing my gear felt like it took longer than the ride to Windisch. (Gloves! I can always find one quickly – but finding the right second one almost always requires rummaging through everything ;-)

The paths don't quite match the maps. In some places, it's quite adventurous; apparently, a forest fire raged around Fibbialla in early 2025. The village had to be evacuated, but most of the residents seem to have escaped unharmed. However, not all the paths have been repaired yet.
