The cloister, built between the 13th and 15th centuries, was the centre of the daily and spiritual life of the abbey. This courtyard, surrounded by covered galleries, was connected to the various buildings used by the religious community: the church, the monks' wing, the refectory and the lay brothers' section. In the gallery that runs along the church, there were benches for reading. At the entrance to the refectory was a washbasin (lavatorium), intended for the monks' finger washing.
