In Villers Abbey, the care of the sick played an important role. The monks' infirmary, built in the 13th century, away from other buildings to avoid the risk of contagion, was a large room with an estimated surface area of 770 m². Around 1600, the infirmary was transferred to the old dormitory of the lay brothers, near the pharmacy and the garden of medicinal plants. In the 18th century, the building was extended with a floor to install a library and the ground floor became the novitiate.
