Erik Menved's Inn, a beautiful old half-timbered house, is the oldest inn in the town, as well as on Funen, having been built in 1543. The building is named after King Erik Menved, who renewed Bogense's merchant town charter in 1288.

The inn was only called Erik Menveds Kro in 1987. Before that, the inn and restaurant were called Landbohjemmet and Frk. Petersens Restaurant Landbohjemmet (Miss Petersen's Restaurant, the Country House) for many years. One part of the building always housed a restaurant, but other parts also housed a watchmaker's workshop, a wood turner's workshop, a jeweler, and other shops.
