Friedrichshagen is a former colonist village that the Prussian King Frederick II had laid out in 1753 for one hundred families of cotton spinners from Silesia and Bohemia. You can still see some of the small colonist houses on Bölschestraße today. Right next to it are magnificent villas or multi-storey residential buildings. This picturesque mix and the small shops and cafes make the street a very attractive place.

The writer Wilhelm Bölsche (1861-1939), who, along with Bruno Wille (1860-1928), was one of the founders of the “Friedrichshagen Poets’ Circle”, is the namesake of the more than one kilometer long Bölschestraße, which leads from the Friedrichshagen S-Bahn station to the Müggelseedamm.
