One of the towers that survived the centuries was that of the cloth makers, the Lakenmakerstoren. This picturesque tower was part of the defence wall along the Jeker, between the Kastanjewal and Sint-Ursulastraat. The semi-circular construction is mainly made of flint, a material from the original Roman wall.
