The renovated Kasteeldreef puts walkers and cyclists first. The trees, verges and canals (and their vegetation) were left untouched. Historically correct materials were used for the renovation. A two-track profile with a central reservation in cobblestones was chosen. The foundation is completely water-permeable. The comfortable concrete ribbons are easy for cyclists and walkers and there are enough benches to rest and enjoy the green surroundings.

This part of Kasteelstraat is a long, straight, cobbled avenue, which connects Cardijnplein (with the church and the country house) in the centre of Bornem with the castle of Marnix van Sint-Aldegonde. Near the centre through forest, closer to the castle between fields.
