Remnant of the Oud-Antwerp exhibition of 1894, re-erected here in 1898. Neo-traditional, octagonal pagadder tower, built of brick and natural stone under a slate spire; connected by a stepped and cemented pointed arch (4 steps and diagonal top piece with crowning lion) to a small round tower, also cemented. The lion carries a coat of arms with the year 1898 (re-erected) and the initials VMV (Victor Merckx-Verellen). The rural house with vague neo-traditional reminiscences, which is built against the whole, was built as a "country house" on the site of an old barn, based on a design by architect J. Goeyvaerts from 1927. Archive Bouwdienst Bornem, Bouwplannen 1927/A. The Sint-Jacobstoren is a remnant of the world exhibition Old Antwerp of 1894 and was founded here back in 1898. The pagadder tower, pointed arch and the small round tower let you dream away to a fairytale world. The lion on the arch bears a coat of arms with the year of the re-establishment - 1898.
Also notice the wrought iron bust in the pagadder tower in honor of Wannes Van de Velde = Antwerp folk singer.
