Bear Park, Bern
Hilled park with a bear pit from the 19th century, now the habitat of many brown bears (the city's heraldic animal).
The Bernese bears are at home in the Bear Park in the middle of the city. The "Mutzen" live exclusively in the park on the Aare slope with a view of the UNESCO-certified Bern old town. The approximately 5,000 square meter site stretches from the former bear pit down to the banks of the Aare and is barrier-free. The "BärenBähnli" creates a fast, wheelchair-friendly connection between the banks of the Aare and the upper part of the park. The panoramic inclined lift can be used free of charge. A unique experience to float past the bears' noses through the park!

The inclined elevator overcomes a height difference of 20 meters and is 43 meters long. The ride only takes about 45 seconds and offers a great view of the bears and the surrounding landscape. The cabin travels directly above the bears' enclosures, which offers a unique experience.

Next to the bear enclosure, the city's coat of arms, one of the funiculars starts to the riverside path along the Aare. This beautiful path, which offers a fantastic view of the old town of Bern, is part of the ViaBerna long-distance hiking trail.
