Since 1996, the city of Peine has had its own municipal train station with a local transport terminal. The architecturally successful project not only sets urban development accents, but also links public transport (bus and train) with taxis, bicycles and cars on exemplary short routes. Thanks to its central location and direct connection to the pedestrian zone, the new station is the heart of local public transport in the city of Peine.

In 1997, the Peine local transport terminal was awarded the "Thoughtfully planned - designed for the disabled" plaque by the Reichsbund social association (now the German Social Association) as the first municipal train station in Germany to be completely handicapped-accessible and barrier-free.

In 1998, the Düsseldorf Steel Information Center included the local transport terminal in the "Steel and Form" series as a showcase and outstanding example of the use of steel products.

In February 1999, the passenger association Pro Bahn awarded the city of Peine the Silver Rail Nail for its "urban development and transport policy flagship". This award was presented for the first time.

Local trains to Braunschweig and in the other direction to Hanover leave from here.
There is a bookcase in the waiting area of the station building so that you can pass the time while you wait.
You will also be greeted by owls here, as Peine is the owl city.
