On our last tour in 2025, we had wonderfully clear weather; only the occasionally brisk north wind reminded us of the time of year. The section between Marxen and Südergellersen was somewhat monotonous, but offered plenty of room to stretch our legs on quite decent paths. After all, the Lüneburg Heath

This time we took a tour through the northern part of the Peine district, through perhaps lesser-known, but surprisingly beautiful spots. Only the last few kilometers were a bit monotonous. And the sun even came out at midday!

A walk through the woods and meadows between Lachendorf and Lachtehausen in almost wintry temperatures. While there aren't many highlights here, the vastness and tranquility of the landscape make for a relaxing Sunday stroll.

We've been to Arendsee several times before, but never this late in the year. And on such a mild November day, the forests around the lake are definitely worth a hike!

A beautiful autumn hike through two quiet valleys in the Solling hills – also a hike for those who love solitude, apart from a few cars belonging to foresters or landowners. And in the lower elevations of the Solling, there was still plenty of colorful foliage on the trees.

The tour was originally planned in the opposite direction, but since we caught the delayed S4 train in Hanover, we got off in Emmerke and avoided the long wait in Hildesheim. Although the more scenic (and challenging) part of the tour was postponed until the afternoon, the weather was also better.

Of course, the heathlands in the Celle district have been a regular hiking destination for us for years, but this season, the newly introduced South Heath Shuttle Bus (running a circular route from Unterlüß to Hermannsburg and Müden on weekends until September 28th) offers more fit hikers the opportunity
