"The Peiner parish church of St. Jacobi stood here on the market square from the 12th century until the middle of the 16th century. The largest part of today's market square was a cemetery at the time. When the market square was redesigned in 1985, stone, foundation walls, floors of the original building, the subsequent church and graves - including this restored pillar - were uncovered."
