Board with a worthwhile chronicle of the moor

The Barumer Moor, located on the outskirts of Peine between Fuhse, Maschlandgraben and Eixer Grenzgraben, has its special charm in every season. It invites you to take long walks or go on natural history hikes.

On an area of over 120 acres, visitors will find marsh meadows, swamp forest, reeds and extensive moor areas. The owners - since the reorganization of the Kingdom of Hanover in 1834 these have been members of the Barumer Moor interest group (today the Realgemeinde) - used these areas as meadows and pastures, the moor areas for peat extraction and the forest areas in winter for firewood production.
They were responsible for maintaining the property while the community took care of the ditches and dams - this task is now the responsibility of the city of Peine.

I haven't seen the explanation board anywhere, but you can't overlook the fact that it's a moor. In addition, a beautiful jungle of deciduous trees, unfortunately the first part of the path is difficult to walk because there were obviously riders on the road. But it's worth it.
