The two Protestant parishes in Limburg belong to the Runkel deanery in the Evangelical Church in Hesse and Nassau. The parish in Limburg was formed in the early 19th century and was a branch of the Protestant church in Staffel. In 1831, the Duke of Nassau gave it the chapel in Erbach, which was consecrated in December by the Staffel pastor Georg Ninck. Due to the steady growth of the Limburg parish, a larger church was needed. This was consecrated on May 29, 1866 and is located near the Limburg regional train station. Limburg was not granted the status of an independent Protestant parish until 1879.The church was rebuilt from 1973 to 1975. Two intermediate floors were installed to divide it up. The top third remained a church. The middle third was used to accommodate the rooms of a neighboring parish hall. The ground floor is now a youth recreation center.
