Limburg Cathedral is also called St. George's Cathedral after its patron saint, St. George. Originally a collegiate church, the church only became the cathedral church of the diocese of Limburg in 1827. This makes the cathedral a special church building. A cathedral does not normally have a baptismal font. But Limburg Cathedral does have one, as it was previously a parish church. Limburg Cathedral is also the only German church with seven towers.
