Today, under beautiful sunshine, we started from Fachingen and, as the title already suggests, had to change our plans no fewer than three times to avoid the Lahn River's high water level.



I had looked at pictures of the towpath and hoped it would be a bit higher than the Lahn's flood level.



Unfortunately

It's finally here – with this hike, I've surpassed 10,000 km on Komoot.



95% on foot, with only a few bike rides at the beginning.



For this special occasion, of course, only one route would do: my favorite from Villmar to Runkel.

Today's hike – after our little adventure – started with a slightly puffy head at Altenberg Monastery.



The highlight was the Fortuna Mine, with a stop at the miners' house – we took a short break there enjoying plum dumplings and hot waffles.



Everyone should book a train ride down to the mine in the summer

This year's hike with the Bagaluten (a local group) took us from Löhnberg via Selters to Tiefenbach, ending in Braunfels.



A relaxed hike at a leisurely pace, focusing on enjoying the scenery, conversation, and perhaps a beer or two 🍻

In our home region, temperatures have recovered to 4 degrees Celsius, and this is reflected in the dwindling snow.



So, we're heading back into the winter wonderland this weekend.



Destination: Fuchskaute and the Ketzersteine.

We were invited to a birthday party near Dillenburg, which gave us the opportunity to do a hike in this region.



Time was a bit tight, so we opted for a shorter loop.
