iron house. It owes its name to the underlying development area and the practical courage of the builders, who probably wanted to use the space optimally and also added a high gable to the projecting floors. The three-storey iron house was built in two phases, around 1611 and between 1620-1630. It also has a checkered history, was a cloth weaving mill, slaughterhouse and butcher's shop, was expropriated by the Nazis and acquired in 1955 by the Hattingen Heimatverein from a Jewish trust company. The Heimatverein has set up its museum here.
