The school mountain tunnel is a 195 m long former railway tunnel in Hattingen in North Rhine-Westphalia. It was built in 1883 and in 1884 the railway line through it, the so-called coal railway, was opened from Wuppertal to Hattingen. Passenger traffic was discontinued in 1979, and freight traffic in 1984.

On September 23, 2008, it was released for cycling again after the completion of the railway line's renovation in 1989. The concept is closed at night, but the position of "key officer" is currently vacant, so that it remains open indefinitely even at night.

The tunnel is part of the Von-Ruhr-to-Ruhr cycle path that was created in 2008.
