The Waaghaus, a beautiful building dating from 1634, housed the public scales until 1780. These scales can still be seen in a fresco by Albert Stolz in Waaggasse, the street connecting Kornplatz with the arcades. The hinges of the former city gate can also be discerned there with a keen eye.
The Waaghaus is not only one of the oldest, but also the only freestanding building in the arcades of Bolzano.
