The Botanical Garden of the University of Potsdam is located in the impressive scenery of the UNESCO World Heritage Park Sanssouci. The site on Maulbeerallee was once used by the court gardeners of Sanssouci for the cultivation of local and southern fruits and vegetables for the royal table, as well as the cultivation of flowers to decorate the palace grounds. In 1950, the area was further developed into a botanical garden of the then College of Education.
In the Garden of Paradise is still a 1937 created pond with various marsh and water plants. Unlike stibadium, cascade and water basins, which have already been extensively restored.

This wonderful garden is well maintained and labeled. He is part of the Botanical Garden of the University of Potsdam. Admission is free and everyone is welcome to marvel at the plant diversity. :)

King Friedrich Wilhelm IV entrusted the court gardener Hermann Sello in 1841 with the realization of a Mediterranean kitchen garden. Even if science entered the paradise garden a hundred years later and turned it into a botanical show garden, the exotic, romantic flair of the place has been preserved to this day. Impressive trees, which were then completely unknown in Europe, still populate the garden today. Until recently, this included one of the most beautiful flowering trees in the northern latitudes: the handkerchief tree. Unfortunately, only a pitiful remnant can currently be seen - probably due to the climatic changes. Nevertheless, a visit to the garden a little bit away from the tourist flow is highly recommended.
