Stork Nesting Pole in Webbekoms Broek

At the end of July 2016, the Agency for Nature and Forests, in collaboration with the Webbekoms Broek Visitor Centre, already placed a stork's nest in Diest at the visitor centre. Since 2018, the nest has been occupied by a pair of storks and in 2022 there was also a brood. Additional poles were placed, including near the second viewing platform that was added in recent years as part of waterworks with the valve weir between the Demer and Zwarte Beek. That pole is approximately here, a sign about the project can be found on the path opposite the viewpoint. There was also a pair of storks in the Webbekoms Broek in 2023 and 2024. Incidentally, 10 additional stork poles were placed in the Demer and Laak valleys in 2023. In addition to an additional one in Diest (this one in the Webbekoms broek), there were also in Aarschot, Scherpenheuvel-Zichem, Rotselaar and Tremelo.
