The old SCHAUBURG was built in 1935 for the Luckenwalde businessman Max Zieseke according to designs by the architect Paul Backes and was opened on January 18, 1936. In the 1960s, the auditorium and the stage building were redesigned. The last film was shown there on October 17, 1998. In 2002, the "Schauburg" was placed under monument protection while it was still being transferred back to the private owner. The cinema hall itself had been closed since 2002.
From May 2004, the foyer of the cinema continued to be used as a trendy bar and as a concert venue for predominantly alternative styles of music. In August 2007, the roof of the old SCHAUBURG cinema collapsed. Since then the building has been closed and is rapidly deteriorating. A citizens' initiative has been trying for a long time to find a new use for the building or even to have it demolished.

Looks like a rotting film set, only the outer walls are partially standing. But the dystopian character advertises a future use, maybe as an event location?
