After Albert's early death, his brother, Duke Ernst II, had two similar model farms built in Coburg: from 1861 to 1863 on the edge of the park of Callenberg Castle, and in 1878, the Ernst Farm west of Coburg. The two Coburg model farms testified to the fundamental changes in agriculture during the 19th century.

The Forestry and Domain Office is now urgently looking for a new tenant for the former model farm. There are many ideas, but no investor yet. The former farm should definitely not become a lost place.

As of 2025: The Ernst Farm is vacant, and an investor with a concept is finally being sought. The structural condition is being secured. Sorry, the "lost place" thing is just nonsense.
