Actually an observation tower, but closed all year round. Last opened in the 90's for one day each year.

The Eckardtsturm is located on the 432 m high Eckardtsberg and from here you have a magnificent view over the roofs of the city and of the Veste Coburg, which rises high above the city with its massive walls and towers. With an area of approx. 135 × 260 m, it is one of the largest and best preserved castle complexes in Germany.
The tower was built in 1873. It served as a lookout tower close to the city. The Gothic bay window above the entrance door adorns the east side of the battlemented tower.
