View of the eastern part of the romantic love ground.
The Liebesgrund is a public green area in the north of Lüneburg, which is bordered on the long sides by slopes. A nice place for walking, picnicking or the like.
The name comes from itself. Sometimes musical events, children's parties or garden exhibitions take place here. But that was not always the case, because originally the site was part of the mighty city wall, consisting of wall, rampart, wall and city moat. Liebesgrund formed the city moat in front of the outer wall between Bardowicker Tor and Bastion, hence the elongated depression.

Liebesgrund ”is what the Lüneburgers call the old city moat. A large green area,
a playground and lots of greenery invite you to relax, play and go for a walk.
Parts of the city wall can still be seen, even if it no longer measures 7 meters as it once did.
