The water tower, completed in 1907 by the Lüneburg architect Franz Krüger, was supposed to better supply the higher parts of the city with water. The necessary de-icing and filtering of the iron-containing spring water was finally made possible by modern technology. In any case, you should not miss the wonderful view from the viewing platform over the city and the countryside.lueneburg.info/wasserturm-lueneburg

The water tower was in operation until 1985. With its then highly modern technology and its 500,000 liter water tank, it contributed to the drinking water supply.
The tower opened to visitors in 2000 and has since become a landmark.
