"...The town hall of Friedberg in Bavaria is located directly on Marienplatz. It was rebuilt in 1680 after it was destroyed in the Thirty Years' War. Until the 19th century, the town hall also housed the Schranne, where the grain had to be sold. In the past, not all of the grain was allowed to be exported. In front of the Renaissance building is the Marienbrunnen with the Marian column. It was built in gratitude for the deliverance from the plague..."
