  • The Hochablass is a weir in the Lech, which is located in the eastern urban area of Augsburg. The capital creek branches off from the western part of the weir system, which is routed from here to the old town of Augsburg, where it flows through the Lechviertel in many canals together with the water of the Lochbach. According to an inscription on the weir, the first system to discharge Lech water to Augsburg was in the year 1000. However, there is no documentary evidence of this, this year is only an estimate. In 1346, the first defensive dam at the site of today's outlet is documented.
