La Vecquée is one of the very old paths of the Fens, first mentioned in a text in 1569. The path leads from the Wathy cross south of Bronromme via Bérinzenne, Malchamps, Baronheid, Hockay. Here there was a branch “La Voie du Fer” to the east. Another branch crosses the Hoëgne at the Centenary Bridge and heads towards Baraque Michel La Vecquée marks the municipal boundary. There are markers numbered 148 to 157 that marked the border between Prussia and Belgium.
The “Croix des Fiancés” can be seen on the Vecquée.

The calm of the forest is refreshing.
However, the mud is very present there as winter approaches.

La Vequée (Bishop's Road) was the original name for an early medieval road along the southern border of the diocese of Liège from Stoumont to Longaye, where it met the Iron Road. From Hockai, the Bishop's Road ran over the heights of Lonlou. Between the 15th and 18th centuries, bar iron produced in Schleiden was transported along this route to the weapon smiths in Franchimont in Liège (Iron Road). Today, a continuous hiking trail runs from Hockai to Botrange. Source: Wandern im Venn, Walter / Von Hoegen
