The town is one of the most beautiful rivers that arise from the peat bogs of the High Fens in the Wihonfagne at an altitude of 580 m. The site joins the Sawe near Solwaster after crossing peat bogs and forests. Upstream it first passes a pretty waterfall called the “Cascade des Nutons”. Then he reaches the foot of the Rocher de Bilisse, which he circles in a wide loop. This 40 meter high summit consists of hard quartzites and brittle schist. Its name comes from the Celtic word “bild lech”, which means something like “rock protruding into the air”. The Rocher de Bilisse stands in a forest of deciduous trees, oaks and birches that has hardly changed for centuries. Numerous waterfalls illuminate the course of these streams and offer the hiker just as many places to recharge. (tourismejalhaysart.be)
